Taxpayers and businesses are eligible to take advantage of the Indiana Tax Amnesty 2015 program. The program is only applicable to unpaid or underreported taxes prior to January 1, 2013.
The following are ineligible for Tax Amnesty 2015:
- Those who took part in Indiana’s initial tax amnesty program in 2005
- Those who took advantage of Indiana’s horse claiming tax amnesty program in 2013
- Past-due taxes, unfiled taxes, and underreported taxes from January 1, 2013-present
- Property taxes and unemployment taxes (managed by other departments)
What Else Do I Need to Know About Tax Amnesty?
The 2015 tax amnesty program is only available for a limited time. It began on September 15, 2015, and will conclude on November 16, 2015, so there’s no time to procrastinate! Existing taxes prior to January 1, 2013 are eligible for the tax amnesty program.
According to the Indiana Department of Revenue, the 2005 effort had a target of collecting $65 million. The program ultimately collected $244 million for the state. Funds collected throughout Tax Amnesty 2015 will go to the Indiana Regional Cities Development Fund, the Indiana Department of Transportation, and the state’s general fund.
